Stop Equating Horror Stories to the Bible

Holy Bible beside a film reel and filmstrip, illustrating comparisons between scripture and horror films.

Ebrahim Essa, a regular agitator on the pages of the Mercury, has once again stooped to a new low! Equating horror films such as The Exorcist and The Shining with the Bible is criminal and deserves a lot of pushback!

Firstly, Ebrahim, these Hollywood movies have nothing to do with Christianity! If you ask me, it was more an obsession with darkness and evil that led to the makers of these films using it for their own sinful desires and ambitions! Well, they surely got many people’s attention for all the wrong reasons, including mine, as I was young and naive in the 80s and thought that these films were cool, or something different.

You must be careful when you reference the Bible or try to draw parallels between anything evil and the Word of God. Your obvious obsession with the Israel/ Hamas war has taken centre stage in your life, and almost every single letter of yours somehow finds its way back to criticism of either Trump, Israel, or Netanyahu! Are you so devoid of morality that you continuously have to make mention of how evil Israel is, and how it clearly goes against every ideological fibre in your body, Mr Essa?

Please stop using the word ‘Horror’ and the Bible in the same sentence! Perhaps what you should do next time is to shed some light on the atrocities of Hamas, your friends, and the gleeful posting of their heinous acts on social media to create awareness of their ‘successes’ on that dreadful day of October 7th, 2023, when they came up from underground tunnels, like snakes or some evil creatures, to capture, torture, rape, and murder as many Jews as they could find! Now that Mr Essa was a Horror story you should be referencing! And whilst you are at it, feel free to use the words ‘Radical Islam’ in the same sentence, or how about “Allah U Akhbar”?
