Malema No Longer in Touch With the People’s Views
I was saddened and almost bewildered after reading Julius Malema’s letter in the Mercury of Friday, 30 January.
As usual, Malema laments a ‘system ‘ that is apparently “afraid of Black authority”. No, Mr Malema, we don’t fear Black authority; we fear your anti-White rhetoric and hate cries, which Mr Trump had put on full display for the whole World to see, whilst Cyril had to look on and wipe the sweat from his forehead! As a White minority who has suffered under reverse Apartheid since the Zuma years, we fear being economically excluded, trampled on by an ANC government that seeks revenge for past wrongs, and that would go to any lengths, even associating itself with Iran and other Communist countries, to prove a point.
We fear being murdered on our farms, simply for being White. We fear being unemployed whilst much less qualified people take the jobs away from us, leaving us excluded, whilst the incompetent drive luxury cars, wear Gucci shoes and Armani suits. I personally have no problem at all with Black leaders in positions of authority- give us Thabo Mbeki, give us Mandela, give us Mogoeng Mogoeng, General Mkwanazi or even Thuli Madonsela! But please don’t give us any Communist, socialist leaders who spew venom and use race laws to marginalize minority groups! South Africa is not Zimbabwe, Mr Malema. Here, we have a constitution, a strong, diverse nation of people, where the majority no longer cares about skin colour!
You have said it yourself, Julius: people are afraid of unemployment, poor medical care and being excluded, as you have put it. But ask yourself this: who has been responsible for the lack of jobs, beyond poor service delivery and enrichment of a select few? The Whites? I don’t think so. The ANC cadres have made it very clear that they only care about themselves. The recent salary increases signed off by Ramaphosa, in spite of widespread economic suffering and joblessness, speak volumes—not of Whites who suppress Blacks, but of ANC cadres who suppress their own people in return for votes, and handing them a few T-shirts and some chicken.
We all know by now that the EFF is no different from the ANC, only more radical, more rowdy and even more unapologetic! The support that the EFF had enjoyed until now is dwindling at a rapid rate, and Malena fears this. He fears the day that he can no longer control the narrative. This is evident in the steep decline of support, and a serious wake-up call being dished out to the res berets at the last election!
Unfortunately, individuals who thrive on Socialism, Communism and Marxism never change their behavior, for it is the very fibre of their sad existence. Mr Malema will blame Trump, AfriForum, and all other White groups who stand up for freedom, as his agenda is desperately dependent on the ‘Divide and rule’ narrative, that so many Marxist leaders deploy nowadays. If Mr Malema goes to jail, there will no doubt be some very aggrieved supporters, but we simply cannot have a constitutional crisis where political figures are treated differently from average-class citizens. Our constitution demands justice for all, and if we allow angry individuals who still blame Apartheid for today’s struggles, 30 years later, to flourish and do as they please, regardless of our constitution, then we are in deep trouble as a nation!
