Bokkieweek Rugby Tournament Exposes Real Racism

Bokkieweek Rugby Tournament

For starters, I’d like to state unequivocally how wrong Apartheid was. Take note that I said ‘was’. But for some, the Apartheid bus will never stop running. It is convenient for certain individuals to keep stoking the flames of racial hatred, even several years after Madiba-magic had us all intoxicated with hope and encouragement.

The recent Bokkieweek article written by News 24 in pure Leftist, pro-ANC style, again highlights who the real racists are. SA is in ICU on life support with its current condition of racism- like a patient being eaten alive by cancer, our country bleeds out every day as different races, and different cultural groups, go at each other online and in the media- each side having a horse in its own selfish race. News 24 came out all guns blazing as it accused White Afrikaner groups, who are a serious minority right now, of keeping Apartheid alive through hosting this event where Afrikaner sports kids can compete whilst at the same time, enjoying their culture and preserving their already limited belief systems. With over 140 race laws, our legislative structures are choking the last few breaths out of White Afrikaner people through the constant and systematic dilution of their culture through aggressive race-baiting and unnecessary public exposure through pieces such as Basson’s News 24 gang. This article highlights the fact that even certain Afrikaner groups are now turning against their own as they start succumbing to the pressures of an ANC-heavy society, where the White man is to blame for every ill of the past, present and future- no matter when these fair- skinned people were born, or even if they never had anything to do with Apartheid.

In strong contrast to Apartheid, today’s strangling of minority groups through racist BEE legislation deals a much heavier, more devastating blow to most citizens in SA, irrespective of colour or creed! If Bokkieweek, a tournament having been celebrated for several years now, with its small groups of Afrikaners enjoying their own little space and freedom of cultural expression, is a threat to anybody, then we have sadly arrived at a point far lower and crippling than Apartheid itself! If Apartheid suppressed the Blacks, then BBBEE has suppressed every minority group out there. If Apartheid had shut out one race or class of people, then BBBEE has shut out many more! If Apartheid was a brutal system, then what do we call the inhumane murders of innocent farmers and the singing of songs such as ‘Kill the Boer’? Imagine if Eugene Tereblanche, who was a terrible Afrikaner man, started singing ‘Kill the Black man’, how much outrage there would’ve been in SA! Sure, Apartheid was a horrible thing, but if we are going to punish young children for playing sports at a Hockey, Netball, or Rugby festival whilst competing in a healthy, cultural event which serves to preserve its beliefs and practices, then we have reached a new low!

I would urge the likes of Adriaan Basson, Carl Niehaus, Panyaza Lesufi, Julius Malema and Piet Croucamp to look at themselves in the mirror and ask: why have we not learnt to move on from the past? Why can’t we let go and give each other some space to just live our lives? What is it about our own insecurities that drives us to keep hating each other so much? These are pertinent questions which anybody should ask themselves if you find yourself on the side of those who criticize the likes of Afriforum, Solidariteit, Bokkieweek or any other proudly Afrikaner institution. How much more enslavement to the BEE system must Afrikaners endure before the wolves of Radical transformation finally lick their lips in satisfactory fashion and say: now we are all square?
