‘Heart of the Beast’ Puts Brad Pitt and Odin to the Ultimate Test

The Film Centres on the Powerful Bond Between a Soldier and His Dog

Johannesburg, 31 August 2026: The final trailer for Heart of the Beast, the gripping new adventure thriller starring Brad Pitt, has arrived, giving audiences a glimpse of a desperate fight for survival in the Alaskan wilderness. Central to the story is Pitt’s bond with Odin, his highly trained military dog and loyal companion, as courage, instinct and loyalty become vital to their survival. The film is likely to strike a particular chord with animal lovers.

Heart of the Beast will be released in cinemas nationwide in South Africa on 24 September 2026.

In the film, after a harrowing plane crash, special forces officer James Belmont (Brad Pitt) and his military dog, Odin, find themselves stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Together, they are forced into a fight for survival against the elements, with the film exploring the unbreakable bond between a man and his best friend as they face their greatest battle yet.

The film is directed by acclaimed filmmaker David Ayer, whose credits include Fury, End of Watch, and The Beekeeper, from a screenplay by Cameron Alexander.

Alongside Pitt, the cast includes J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe. Heart of the Beast is produced by Olivia Hamilton, Marty Bowen, David Ayer and Brad Pitt, with Damien Chazelle among the film’s executive producers.
