Will AI Destroy Us All?
By now we have all heard the term “Artificial Intelligence”. Right? The question is, with countries around the World racing towards chip production and companies within countries competing for the market, will we see AI outpacing humanity and threatening our very societal makeup? These are the types of questions we should at least be asking right now.
Yuval Harari, the Israeli historian and philosopher, recently described AI as a knife at the World Economic Forum in Davos. He said this: “You can cut salad with a knife, or you can murder someone with a knife” …and that AI can create all sorts of other knives, music and medicine, independently. He also calls AI the “End of Human History”. Elon Musk warns that AI can be dangerous if not controlled or monitored, but that it would be amazing to use Robots to look after the elderly, as an example…..but he also said 2 years ago that AI must be used in accordance with some sort of ‘Regulatory framework ‘, and that he may have had a hand in developing AI too fast, to soon.
Personally, my greatest concern about AI is two-fold: 1) some governments are already using AI through facial recognition to surveil the masses, which gives them unprecedented control over the people, such as in China. Imagine what nefarious governments could do with such immense power, if their goal is to repress, shape narratives or to maintain the hierarchy. We have to be so careful if we are going to allow authorities to identify us, using AI tools, to such an extent that we cannot even move or go anywhere without being spied on in public. 2) Religious activities and conversations with God are now replaced by ridiculous AI versions, and people are actually gullible enough to believe that Chat GPT can solve their spiritual issues or give them a sense of belonging, or ‘answer their prayers’! This is madness! Not to mention the Bible being rewritten by AI in China, to deceive the people and blind them to the truth of the gospel, or pornography being created through AI and becoming so easily accessible to children!
Personally, I believe that AI will destroy more jobs than to create them. I feel that AI has no place in society regarding Spiritual matters. How can a robot, created by man, give you the answers to Life itself? Think about it! Also, the more we rely on AI tools, the more dependent we will become, rendering us lazy, useless and leaving us lacking a sense of purpose. Is humanity obsessed with progress? Can we just stop, breathe, smell the flowers, feel the sun on our faces again and get off our devices! AI has the potential to help us, but let’s put it in its place, and remember that we are the pinnacle of God’s creation!
