Christians forced to buy Halaal products

Many Christians have raised their concerns about how many products, even bottled water, are Halaal-certified and how excruciating it is for us non-Muslims to ‘fund’ Islam. Not only do I find this highly offensive, but problematic from a moral standpoint!

Looking at the aggressive behaviour of some Radical groups such as Boko Haram in Nigeria, Hamas and Hezbollah in the Middle East and other similar offshoots of Islam, it is beyond comprehension and goes against all logic that I, a Christian believer, must be forced into buying food which is dedicated to a religious group that basically sees me as an opponent. The way in which Jews are hated Worldwide, simply for being born Jewish, is astounding! The vandalism of Christmas trees, the sabotage of Christmas markets and the murder of Christians across many Middle Eastern and African countries should serve as major red lights to any followers of Judeo-Christian values!
Christians don’t force other religions to buy food products dedicated to their God, nor do Hindus, Atheists or any other religious group! Why must I pay for this? It’s time for Christians to stand up and support each other – not to threaten other religious groups or show disrespect,  but to preserve our age-old faith of peace, love, forgiveness and prosperity. We don’t force you to do anything, yet, we are marginalized, frowned upon, held to very high standards and criticized when we ask pressing questions! In South Africa, we should all let each other be who we want to be, buy where we want to buy, let one another practice our faith or religion without fear or being driven out, and especially without aggression or being forced to observe each other’s practices.
Loud booming voices echoing from mosques should be governed in such a way that I am not forced to listen to the prayers. Not even 3% of South Africa is Muslim, so please stop forcing us to buy Halaal, and let’s respect each other’s space. Feel free to challenge my views! We cannot force our religion down others’ throats. We have to act in love.
