No Law, No Respect, No Rule in SA
Our country is plagued by some of the most ruthless, barbaric and unrelenting political leadership in decades, and lobby groups such as Solidarity and Afriforum are trying their utmost best to protect what is left of a once-functioning democracy, despite aggressive pushback, even from our number 1 citizen, Cyril Ramaphosa.
The recent attacks by the EFF’s commander-in-chief, Malema, speak volumes of just how deep the levels of disrespect run in our country. Judge Twanet Olivier handed down a more than decent judgment, and with wide eyes and a face reflective of the fear of the rule of law, Malema looked on, giggled and then waved goodbye. I am really not so sure why anybody would find these proceedings funny or a joke, just like I find it highly offensive that the man with his machine-gun mouth uttered his disdain so shortly after the Eastern Cape court judgement. Judge Olivier was only doing her job. But Mr Malema thought it fitting to immediately start the personal attacks on Olivier, mainly because she is White, and mainly because she is applying the rule of law.
In another incident, ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula accused Afriforum of being what? You’ve guessed it: Racist! Why? Because they are applying the rule of law and releasing a dossier which contains hard, cold facts and evidence about Mbalula’s sins and behaviours. We all know how Mbalula brought major State institutions to their knees with his baffling lack of integrity and appetite for corruption and nepotism. Yet, here he is, badmouthing Kallie Kriel’s team for simply doing their job- protecting human rights and stamping out blatant corruption!
Since Malema’s judgment of 5 years in prison for firing live ammunition into a crowd at the EFF’s 5th birthday rally, social media has been ablaze with aggressive anti-White messages, threats and all sorts of references to Apartheid crimes, Colinization by Europeans, White privilege and the usual victimhood rhetoric. Everything is the White man’s fault! Everything is Afriforum’s fault… and individuals such as Malema, Ramaphosa and Mbalula are angels who never did a single questionable thing in their lives…ya right! Ramaphosa has no conscience in the way that he still accuses the Apartheid government for what ot did over 40 years ago…he doubles down on the ‘redress’ speech, and keeps hammering away at it- claiming that the ills of the past still need to be corrected….even Black people are not falling for this anymore! How long will this unforgiving rubbish still be uttered from the mouths of the Black Elite in power and in government? How long will Blacks still be told that they are basically reliant on a State grant, seemingly ‘unable to build a future for themselves’? How embarrassing and degrading, Mr Ramaphosa! Don’t you have faith in your own people? There are so many brilliant Black individuals waiting for a chance to prove you wrong, Cyril!
I will end this letter by focusing on a social media post by radio celebrity Gareth Cliff, who rightfully bemoaned the actions of an individual at a gymnasium who found it somehow appropriate to shave his testicles in the bathroom, after which he then shaved his head- so nonchalantly, without any fear of embarrassment or consequence. What is this country becoming? Are we now going from a third-world country to Neanderthalville? Where is the respect for law and order? Where is the respect for our fellow humans, no matter their skin colour! But when highly influential persons such as Malema stand on a podium, criticising the very institutions that hold society together, pretending to be fighting for freedom and Liberation, I have a massive problem with that!
