Winter Playground Returns To Melrose Arch This School Holiday
Chilly Days And Cheerful Play Continue Until 20 July
Johannesburg, 30 June 2025 — As Joburg’s mid-year school holidays settle in, families can once again head to one of the city’s most celebrated family destinations. The much-anticipated Winter Playground at Melrose Arch is back, transforming the piazza into a winter wonderland that invites children aged 1–10 to explore, play, and escape the monotony of winter indoors.
Running until Sunday 20 July, the playground is open Thursday to Sunday from 9am to 4pm, offering children and their families a safe, activity-filled environment designed to deliver a balance of structured fun and free-spirited play.
Attractions And Activities To Delight Every Child
The Winter Playground boasts a well-curated mix of attractions catering to toddlers and older children alike. Features include an engaging obstacle course, a dedicated toddler zone, a colouring station, face painting, a jumping castle, and the returning favourite — the Glistening Ice Rink.
Live, interactive entertainment takes place throughout the schedule. Highlights include Clamber Club entertainers on 28 and 29 June from 2pm, and a meet-and-greet with the beloved Jog the Frog every Sunday at 2pm. Children also receive complimentary popcorn with their entry, ensuring there’s a treat in hand while they play.
Admission is priced at R70 per hour, or R140 for unlimited play.

In support of family experiences, Exclusive Books will host a cosy reading corner every Saturday from 12pm to 3pm, accompanied by the character Mr Frosty.
