Wendy Oldfield Announces New Album, SALT and National City to City Tour.

Local pop icon Wendy Oldfield is releasing her 7th studio album on 30 April. In support of the release, she is undertaking a national ‘’Salt’’ tour with a new band, kicking off in Cape Town on 29 April at Café Roux.

Wendy’s new album draws on a collection of songs created over the past 5 years. The album was recorded at the Peace of Eden Studio in Wilderness and Just Music Studio in Johannesburg and produced by Matthew Fink. The album offers a fresh direction for Wendy’s unique voice and music style. The songs move across a mix of adult contemporary rock, world, indie and dub.

Salt is rich with melodic hooks and grooves and the vocal arrangements are uniquely Wendy Oldfield.

In advance of the full album release, Wendy dropped the track ‘Home’ as a lead single and music video in January this year. A new single off the album called ‘’Big Feeling’’ is currently out on national radio.

In recording the album, featured musicians include Cedric Samson on drums; Martin Schofield on guitars and Rob O’Brien on bass. The track ‘One of the Girls’ also features Cindy Alter on backing vocals. For the live shows, Wendy’s new band includes multi-instrumentalist Keenan Scott from Wilderness, on electric guitar.

The rhythm section is comprised of highly accomplished musicians Nick and Matt Catto, of the mega-musical Blundell family and the band Hatchetman.

Touring the album live, Wendy has ensured that the performance will deliver on the musicality of the album production with the Catto boys, Nick and Matt covering harmonies. Scott is styling on electric guitar, and Wendy plays acoustic guitar. All this together, with Wendy’s rich authentic style of singing, her incredible lyrics and stage personality makes for a great live performance show.
