Trump Revokes Secret Service Protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden Amid South Africa Visit

President Donald Trump has taken decisive action by revoking Secret Service protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden. This move comes after reports surfaced that Hunter Biden was in South Africa with an 18-agent security detail, sparking questions over taxpayer expenditures and diplomatic tensions between the U.S. and South Africa.
Hunter Biden’s South Africa Trip Under Scrutiny
During a recent press conference, President Trump was questioned about Hunter Biden’s presence in South Africa. The revelation that 18 Secret Service agents were assigned to protect Hunter during his trip raised concerns. Trump, who appeared unaware of the situation at the time, vowed to look into it immediately.
Trump stated that South Africa is on a U.S. “watch list” due to concerns over human rights violations. He further noted that financial aid to the country had been halted, citing “brutal” actions by the South African government.
Immediate Action: Secret Service Protection Revoked
Within hours of learning about the situation, President Trump took to Truth Social to announce the revocation of Secret Service protection for both Hunter and Ashley Biden. His post emphasised that Hunter had been receiving extensive taxpayer-funded security for an “extended period of time” and that such protection was no longer justified.
Ashley Biden, who had 13 agents assigned to her, also had her security detail removed. In total, 31 agents were pulled from both Biden family members, an action that Trump framed as a necessary cost-saving measure for taxpayers.
South Africa’s Growing Tensions with the U.S.
Trump’s statement reinforced growing tensions between Washington, D.C., and South Africa. The Biden administration’s policies and South Africa’s political stance have already led to strained relations. Trump’s move to withdraw Secret Service protection from Hunter while emphasising South Africa’s human rights issues signals a continued shift in U.S. foreign policy regarding the ANC-led government.
President Trump’s decision to revoke Secret Service protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden underscores his administration’s stance on government accountability and fiscal responsibility. The move also shines a spotlight on South Africa’s diplomatic standing with the U.S., highlighting the broader implications of Washington’s growing discontent with Pretoria’s policies.
