The Silence of Christians Is Concerning
The threat of antisemitism, Islamic Jihad, Sharia law, anti-American protests, so-called inclusivity, LGBTQ, Socialism and Wokeness has swept our Global landscape and caused massive distortion and division. Equally, the silence of the Christian Church has left me feeling rather isolated, gravely concerned and disappointed, since Christianity and Judaism are supposed to be powerful, transformative and accepting.
As a Christian living in South Africa, and since the dreadful, barbaric attack by Hamas on innocent Jewish festival goers, which has rocked the Globe, I have become intensely alert to what the Left, specifically Pro-Palestine supporters, are saying, sharing and pushing forward, as they try to reshape society and alter global opinions. Popular figures such as Candace Owens, Tucker Carlson, Mehdi Hassan, Francesca Albanese and Whoopi Goldberg have sickened me with their extremely biased and filtered versions of what happened on that dreaded day in Israel, when families were slaughtered, babies burnt alive, grandma’s captured and hostages taken into terror dungeons- all this whilst thousands of Palestinian people, or shall I say Gazan Arabs, celebrated Hamas’ unthinkable acts of horror!
Churches and pastors have seemingly been silent on the topic of Israel, and it’s almost as if they have gone into hiding. I am sure that there are a handful of true men of God who are willing to speak up against the terror and aggression of the Iranian proxies, the dangers of radicalising young kids in Gaza to hate Jews, and the alarming anti-Israel protests that are spreading like a disease across Western nations.
On local ground, here in Durban, I detest the in-your-face banners and signs reading “Palestine will be free”, or “Free Palestine “, which can be seen up on walls, painted with large water melon colours spread across Durban streets and in key suburban areas- just in case you missed it- that apparently Palestinians are the World’s worst victims, yet Christians are literally experiencing a Genocide in Nigeria, simply for their beliefs! We need to see more bumper stickers reading ” Pray for Nigeria “…..the Free Palestine slogan is nothing but a code word for “Hate the Jews”- it’s despicable to note the absolute silence from our ANC cadres, who love to push the “Apartheid ” narrative as they try to deligitimize and isolate Israel.
I urge Churches, pastors, political leaders and religious leaders to condemn Radicalism, Woke culture, Socialism, LGBTQ, antisemitism and coercion through false narratives. There is a spiritual war of epic proportions happening right now, and if we don’t wake up very soon, South Africa will become another London, Australia or Canada!
