Youth conversation series returns to National Geographic Wild with more adventures of budding conservationists
The youth-driven conservation series, Team Sayari, has returned with a brand-new season on National Geographic Wild, inspiring a new wave of environmental passion among young viewers. In this season, titled A Journey Beyond, Team Sayari takes its mission to the next level with fresh stories and powerful conservation messages. Premiering on Saturdays at 13:00 (CAT) on National Geographic Wild (DStv: 182, StarSat: 221), each 5-minute episode will also be available for viewers on YouTube immediately following its broadcast.
From Adventure to Impact: Team Sayari Leads the Way
Building on the success of its first season, Team Sayari showcases young conservationists from South Africa and Kenya who are committed to protecting Africa’s natural wonders. These short episodes explore different conservation projects, revealing both the beauty of the continent and the urgent need for environmental stewardship.
Led by Mysha Hodson, Marita Lucas, Jack Norton-Griffith, Shanah Manjeru, Adarsh Nagda, and South Africa’s Atule Mazane, Khahliso Khojane, and Thandolwethu Fani, this season captures both the enthusiasm and commitment of these young leaders, highlighting that age is no barrier to making a difference.
Episode Highlights:
- Thando, Green Creativity: Thando finds creative ways to turn waste into art, visiting Upcycle in Johannesburg with her brother to transform trash into treasures. Her journey shows the power of innovation in combating waste.
- Beyond the Comfort Zone – Atule & JP: Atule returns to Simon’s Town in Cape Town, where he teams up with Ocean Conservationist Juneid Petersen to lead a beach cleanup with local kids. This episode highlights the power of collective action in protecting our oceans.
- Khahliso and The Black Mermaid: Khahliso reconnects with “The Black Mermaid” at Cape Town’s Two Oceans Aquarium. Together, they dive into the mysteries of the aquatic world, illustrating the beauty and diversity of marine ecosystems.
- Jack’s Snake Safari Adventure: Jack’s fascination with reptiles brings him back to Watamu Snake Park, where he searches for the shy Hook-nose Beak Snake. His fearless exploration encourages viewers to appreciate wildlife in all its forms.
- Shanah – Bush, Camera, Action!: Shanah and Marita join forces with a wildlife photographer in Nairobi National Park, capturing incredible moments of the park’s fauna. This episode celebrates the artistry and patience required for wildlife photography.
- Seeds of Change – Mysha: Mysha’s trip to Karura Forest is a heartfelt journey to honour her hero through tree planting. Her story symbolizes the potential each person holds to shape a greener, healthier world.
