“Storm Crashers” Releases In Cinemas On 26 July

Storm Crashers 2

Animated feature, taking audiences on a giant adventure with heart and soul

Cape Town, July 17, 2024: Every so often, an animated film comes along that captures the imagination of children and adults alike, transporting cinema-goers to a new world of wonder, and reminding us of the power of dreaming big. This July, that is exactly what audiences can look forward to as the animated adventure film Storm Crashers will release in cinemas nationwide on Friday, July 26, 2024, promising a giant adventure filled with zany characters including the charming dog Tesla, the adorable bunnies Stix, Strappers and Bonjo, the crazy chickens with attitude, and a larger-than-life dragon.

The film follows Alfonso Quixote, an 11-year-old boy with a big imagination. As the rightful descendant and legitimate heir to Don Quixote and just like his great, great, great, great, grand-father, he is constantly fighting monsters, which no one else can see, to save his town of La Mancha. This odd behaviour made him the town’s outcast and a laughingstock for other kids his age, except for his best and only (secret) friend, Pancho Panza.

Our story begins with the two friends about to be torn apart. As an ominous storm approaches La Mancha, a shady businessman named Carrasco is visiting every home in town, making an offer most families (the Quixotes being the sole exception) can’t refuse and, as a consequence, selling their homes and moving to the luxury-housing-community-slash-amusement-park Carrasco’s company owns.

The only person who thinks Carrasco’s timing is suspicious and that there’s something weird behind the storm is Alfonso. He tries to convince his parents that the monstrous storm threatening to destroy the town can be defeated, but to no avail. They just think it’s his overactive imagination. Alfonso then recruits the help of Pancho and Victoria (Pancho’s friend and Alfonso’s secret crush) to go into La Mancha’s woods after the monster and destroy it, to save their hometown. Despite not 100% believing Alfonso’s story, they embark on this mission, with Carrasco on their heels, trying to stop them at all costs.

The three friends will have to work together and learn to accept each other’s flaws and quirks, in order to uncover the sinister plan to destroy their town. Their parents are also forced to put their differences aside and, unknowingly, assist the children in making their mission a success. On this journey, they’ll learn about themselves, about friendship and about how, with a little bit of imagination, anything can be possible—even mending the broken relationship between the Pancho and Quixote families.

They dream the impossible dream, overcome their fears, and use their imagination to find the real force behind the storm, showing that with a little imagination and a lot of friendship, anything is possible.
