In a decisive move, the Georgian parliament unanimously approved the Family Values bill, underscoring its commitment to traditional values and national identity. This legislation, backed by the ruling Georgian Dream Party, aims to preserve public morality by regulating public displays such as ‘Pride’ events and controlling depictions of non-traditional sexual behaviours in media.

The bill’s passage highlights Georgia’s firm stance on safeguarding its cultural heritage and family-centric principles, despite international pressures. President Salome Zourabichvili is poised to sign the bill, signalling broad governmental support for maintaining these core values.

“This legislation reinforces our dedication to protecting our national identity and cultural heritage,” stated Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, emphasising the significance of preserving Georgia’s unique societal fabric.

While facing criticism from Western entities, Georgia asserts its sovereignty in legislating according to its cultural and moral standards. This legislative decision exemplifies Georgia’s resilience in defining its path amidst global debates on social issues.
