Free Smurfs Meet & Greets Across Four Provinces

The Smurfs Kick Off Their Nationwide Character Tour This June Ahead Of Their Latest Animated Movie Release
Johannesburg, 26 June 2025: Get ready, South Africa, because the Smurfs have officially landed. In anticipation of the brand-new SMURFS movie releasing nationwide on Friday, 11 July 2025, two of the franchise’s most adored characters—Smurfette and an all-new addition named No Name—will be embarking on one of South Africa’s most extensive costume character tours to date.
The “Smurfing the Nation” tour will see the famous blue duo popping up at shopping centres, entertainment destinations, and casinos across four provinces. Expect lively meet & greets, high-energy dance-offs featuring tracks from the official SMURFS soundtrack—showcasing names like Rihanna, DJ Khaled, Cardi B, Shenseea, James Corden, and South Africa’s own Tyla—plus giveaways of exclusive limited-edition Smurfs sticker sets while stocks last.
A Colourful Kick-Off In The Cape
The tour opens in the Western Cape with appearances at Somerset Mall, Blue Route, Tygervalley Mall, Canal Walk, and a special Global Smurf Day celebration from 26–29 June. Capetonians can also meet the characters at V&A Waterfront Spur and GrandWest Casino.
From there, the adventure moves east to Garden Route Mall, Baywest Mall, Boardwalk Casino, Hemingways Mall, and Wild Coast Sun Casino through to 4 July.
From Coastal Vibes To The City Of Gold
KwaZulu-Natal fans can catch them at Pavilion Mall, Sibaya Casino, Cornubia, Ballito, Galleria, and Suncoast between 5 and 7 July.
In Gauteng, highlights include Gold Reef City, Cresta Mall, Clearwater Mall, The Grove Mall’s Smurf Mushroom Village, Sun City, Eastgate, Sandton, The Glen, Emperors Palace, Irene Village Mall, Carnival City, Hyde Park, Menlyn Park, Montecasino, Mall of Africa, and Mall of the North from 9–26 July.
Each stop is a free family event featuring music, dancing, meet & greets, and sticker giveaways. Fans are advised to check individual venues’ social media pages for exact times.
Iconic Voices, New Adventures
The upcoming SMURFS film features Rihanna voicing Smurfette, leading a rescue mission to save Papa Smurf (voiced by John Goodman) from the clutches of Gargamel and Razamel. With a cast boasting James Corden, Sandra Oh, Jimmy Kimmel, Amy Sedaris, and Daniel Levy, audiences can expect a mix of action, humour, and heart.
The Smurfs have always stood for unity, kindness, and environmental care—values they’re bringing to life on this nationwide tour. Adding local flavour, SPUR restaurants nationwide will offer a themed Smurf meal throughout the tour period.
