Eastgate’s Learnergy Redefines Public Education Access in SA
Johannesburg’s retail giant Eastgate Shopping Centre is now home to the nation’s first Learnergy hub.
A fresh educational frontier has emerged in Johannesburg. Eastgate Shopping Centre has launched Learnergy — South Africa’s pioneering in-mall learning and wellness hub aimed at addressing the country’s education gaps. Founded by Ntsako Mhlanga, an influential advocate for accessible education, this new centre blends academic resources with digital tools and psycho-social support.
Learnergy provides tutoring, entrepreneurship workshops, and wellness consultations, while also distributing mobile devices and free Wi-Fi access via Vodacom’s e-School platform. A rooftop sanctuary for students, it bridges critical infrastructure shortcomings for grades 1-12 learners.
General Manager Saadiyah Kahn says the initiative will not only enhance student outcomes but further Eastgate’s reputation as a socially conscious commercial hub. With services starting at R350 per hour, Learnergy is poised to reshape how communities view education in shared public spaces.
