Delia Blyiefeldt Exposes SAPS Failures and Security Threats in South Africa

Couple seeks sanctuary in police station away from mob of alleged assailants.

In a harrowing personal account, Delia Blyiefeldt takes to social media to share her painful story and plea for justice in the face of unaddressed security threats and systemic failures. Her experiences, which span years of harassment and violence, reveal alarming gaps in the country’s security infrastructure and the disturbing consequences of lacklustre enforcement. Blyiefeldt’s post urges the public to recognise the unsettling reality unfolding in South Africa, one that has left her and her family in constant danger.

Delia Blyiefeldt (@DeliaByliefeldt) recounts a series of troubling events in her life, starting with a case opened by PSiRA (@PSiRALive) against Mamra Security Solutions & VIP Protection for operating without proper PSIRA approval back in 2021. Despite the case being filed with the Groblersdal SAPS, Blyiefeldt highlights the unsettling lack of progress, something that has now become a recurring theme in her fight for justice.

She further shares how SAPS, when called upon by Divergent Ops (a legitimate private security company), instructed them not to intervene. This decision, as Blyiefeldt explains, allowed the unlicensed Mamra Thugs to continue their violent assault, even as they tried to retrieve footage of their director pulling a gun on her family on the road. What’s more, the unrelenting harassment has continued for over four years, causing untold distress.

But the nightmare didn’t stop there. Blyiefeldt reveals that just weeks ago, unidentified armed men breached the security of her estate and arrived at her home on a Saturday afternoon while she was alone with her children. This brazen act of violence further underscores the increasing danger faced by South Africans—and the inability or unwillingness of authorities to act.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, Blyiefeldt points out the irony in PSiRA Live’s open support of the proposed amendments to the Private Security Regulations. This proposed legislation threatens to disarm private security firms, potentially leaving ordinary citizens even more vulnerable to criminal activities. In stark contrast, the South African Gunowners Association (@Sa_Gunownersfirmly opposes the amendments, raising concerns about how these policies will exacerbate South Africa’s already volatile security situation.

Delia doesn’t mince words in her critique: “If you didn’t see it four years ago, then wake up and smell the steaming pile of crap on ALL our doorsteps. They are cutting our balls off.”

As if the escalating violence and institutional indifference weren’t enough, Blyiefeldt highlights other critical issues affecting the nation. The signing of the Land Expropriation Bill into law, the facilitation of forced land claims by SAPS, and the lack of condemnation from the ANC for the hateful rhetoric of “Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer” only compound the sense of insecurity and disillusionment that plagues South Africans.

The crux of her post is a call to action: the proposed amendments to the Private Security Regulations are yet another blow to the safety of ordinary citizens, an attack on their right to protect themselves in a country that continues to be ravaged by crime.

Blyiefeldt’s post is more than just a recounting of personal trauma; it is a stark warning of the broader issues plaguing South Africa’s security landscape. Her story is emblematic of the systemic failures within both law enforcement and government institutions, and her plea for action reflects the urgency of addressing these deep-rooted problems.

South Africa faces a critical moment—one that requires the public to wake up to the looming threats that are only intensifying with each passing day. It is time to push back against policies that endanger the people, and it’s time to demand accountability from those entrusted with protecting citizens.
