Telemundo’s brand-new telenovela, Cacau, premieres on Monday 26 May at 22:00 (CAT), exclusively on Telemundo (DSTV Channel 118).
Set against the enchanting backdrop of cocoa plantations, Cacau follows the journey of a gifted chocolate artisan, Clara ‘Cacau’ Coutinho, whose ambitions to earn an international pastry diploma are derailed by financial hardship. In a desperate bid to secure her future, Cacau’s father unveils a long-buried secret: Cacau is the daughter of Justino Vaz Pereira, the powerful landowner of their plantation.
This life-altering revelation ignites a chain reaction of greed, jealousy, betrayal, and passion within a family whose fragile bonds are already frayed. As the battle for truth and inheritance unfolds, Cacau finds an unexpected ally in Tiago Saavedra — a man determined to shield her from the dangerous power struggles threatening to consume them both.
Matilde Reymão takes the lead as Clara ‘Cacau’ Coutinho, with José Condessa starring as her loyal protector and love interest, Tiago. The series boasts a distinguished ensemble cast including Alexandra Lencastre, António Capelo, Carolina Amaral, Fernanda Serrano, Paulo Pires, Diogo Amaral, Ludy Guimarães, and Vitor Britto.
A joint production of TVI and Plural Entertainment, Cacau is internationally distributed by Onza Distribution. The series was penned by Maria João Costa, with contributions from Edu Araújo and Rui Nuno Vaz Tomé, and helmed by directors Edgar Miranda, Ricardo Carreira, Rafael Rahal, and Letícia Veiga.
